Basque Espadrilles and Berets

Mauléon is famous for making espadrilles, the comfortable canvas shoes that tie around the ankles.  Nearby, Ney is known for the fabrication of classic berets and there’s a museum of the beret. This virtual tour of an abandoned beret factory  intrigues me: are human head shapes changing?  Will the beret fit?

Nathalie Costes designs contemporary espadrilles – comfortable and natural footwear.
